Exploring the network of relationships and systems of balance within the natural world excites me and makes me feel like a kid again. This childlike inquiry makes me wonder how materials, colors and styles can coexist within artworks. I am intrigued by the sense of mystery that comes with nostalgia and memory. This comes through in my use of symbolism, repetition and an often ghostly color palette. I like to walk a thin line between whimsy and enigma, and want to invite you to view my works as a collection of clues. A flower, a purse, a scuffed pair of tennis shoes, a curious ladybug on a warm summer day… Working within the aesthetics of childhood, I explore my personal coming of age through my relationship with intuitive making and tangible material, examining an interaction of femininity and the natural world.
